Workshop 2: Teaching and Learning with AI
This one-day, hands-on workshop is designed for business school faculty and educational professionals who seek to harness the power of AI to enhance both teaching and learning experiences. Throughout the day, participants will explore innovative AI-driven technologies that can be seamlessly integrated into the classroom to foster interaction, personalize learning, and streamline assessments. A special focus will be placed on developing fair, rigorous, and AI-compatible grading strategies and rubrics. By the end of the workshop, attendees will leave with practical, immediately applicable skills for creating AI-informed assessments and facilitating dynamic, student-centered learning environments.

Adam King is the Sr. Associate Director of Teaching & Learning Technology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Gies College of Business. Adam has 20 years of experience in business education and entrepreneurial settings. He joined Gies in 2017, working in instructional design and learner support. Today, Adam leads efforts to leverage new technologies to accelerate and amplify the success of Gies learners, faculty, and staff. Gies is unique in its at-scale approach to high-quality affordable education.
Tawnya Means, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Dr. Tawnya Means is the Assistant Dean for Educational Innovation at Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She leads the development and implementation of innovative ideas, technologies, and approaches across the College's educational portfolio. With 20+ years of experience in higher education, course design, and educational consulting, Tawnya has led teaching and learning teams and taught courses in entrepreneurship, strategy, technology, and leadership in remote teams. Her research interests include online and blended learning, active learning, learning space design, technology innovation, access to digital learning resources, generative AI for education, and faculty preparation to teach.
